Why Replace A Boat Water Filter
Aging. That is such a little word, with such a big meaning. When things age, we know they are getting closer to the end of their lives. We try all we can to keep age at bay but, yet it still comes. It is the same with people, cars, and boats. A boat water filter is definitely an article you will need from time to time.
Boats can be just a contrary as any car you have ever driven. Maintaining a healthy boat, is as important as maintaining a healthy car. If you neglect them, they will retaliate. You have to expect to take care of them, if you want to enjoy them. Filters for pumps, filters for shower water and drinking water, filter to keep water cool; all these need to be changed at different intervals. Someone who knows exactly what the needs of boats are, is who you want to find.
Just about any place you find boats that are docked, you will find people who know about sailing vessels. Gear and equipment stores usually have one or two individuals who are in the know about boats. Advertisements can be found in these places telling about work which has been, and can be done for you. You just need to look.
When you make the decision on what company will do the work, you should take some time to converse with the management and crew. You enjoy a personal relationship with your physician, why not with your technician? You want your boat to work at its peak, just as you want your body working well. Chatting with the people who work for you and being kind, will advance your desires.
I have to admit that I can be demanding. I pay good money to have work done appropriately and I am not afraid to state exactly how I fee. The garage that changes the oil in my car and does routine maintenance has seven repairmen. I only ask for the services of one of them because he is who I trust. When he is not there, I do not have work done, unless it is an extreme emergency. You may be just as choosy when it comes to your boat.
Have a working relationship with your vessel professional. Openly state your fears and, in most cases, he will give you a break down of what needs to be done immediately and what can wait for a bit. These technicians do try to please their customers and because they enjoy their work, they want to help you to keep from spending too much money all at once.
Replacing a boat water filter of any type may take a little work but, the right person will make the job seem easy. Yes, you do know your boat but, the technician knows the inner mechanisms of your ship. Just as your doctor knows the workings of the inner body better than you do, so does the boat technician know the inner workings of a boat.

Whats The Process of A Boat Auction
People don't realize exactly how popular boat auctions actually are. Why would you choose to use a boat auction instead of just buying one on your. Firstly, boats that are bought in an auction usually cost a fraction of the hefty price tag they originally sold for. It is quiet a common way for people who can't buy boats directly from a dealer because of crappy credit is to go to auction houses because most houses will finance boats to nearly anyone. Also many people find that older, antique boats many of which are hard to find often go up for auction after someone passes away which gives them an opportunity to find rare opportunities.
Although there are plenty of different systems the thing is that most auction houses have the same process . The first difference is registration whereby some auction houses make people register and some don't it mainly differs depending on how the business wants to track the buyers. The fact is once the bidding starts the boat is for sale. Once the Auction has started every one that is interested bids and the higher bidder wins.
Auctions Aren't Complicated
It is important to understand how a boat auction works, the boat gets submitted by the seller, people start bidding and then the highest bidder wins. Often the old owner submits paperwork with the boat that covers such things as history, condition and other important facts about the boat. This sort of information is incredibly important because it has to do with who owns the boat, if the boat is stolen and what repairs are needed or have already been done.
There are some things that are must do's before an auction. You really need to know about the type of boat you are looking for so make sure you research. This research will have to look at what you want the boat to do, pros and cons of different types of boats, its important that you get a boat that suits your need. Lastly make sure that you actually by what you want not just settle on something that may not do the job, this will only lead to disappointment.

Amateurs Like Simple Wooden Boat Plans With Stitch And Glue Method
The novice boat builder has much to study before venturing out and attack their first attempt at boat building. The correct set wooden boat plans designed for the beginner, is a must. Making sure you have a spot that is large enough to hold this boat is an obvious consideration. The real issue, though, is choosing which boat building method you want to use. It will require some serious research and study to pick the one that is specifically created for a beginning boat builder.
The easiest and most common method for inexperienced boat builders is the stitch and glue method. There are several good reasons for choosing stitch and glue over some other boat building techniques. No complex woodworking skills are needed and you use basic tools you already own. A huge factor is that the materials needed are easily found at your local lumber yard. Provided you have a quality, easy to follow set of wooden boat plans, and depending on the size of your boat, this simple boat building technique can usually be completed in just one weekend!
Most of the other boat building techniques first involve building a frame, and then use a variety of different methods for attaching wooden planks to the frame. The stitch and glue method works well for beginners because it does not require building a frame first, nor does it require any special tools. The only materials that will be needed are a set of wooden boat plans, plywood, epoxy, copper wire a fiberglass sheath and paint. In addition to being a very easy procedure, it has the reputation of creating boats that are lighter, stronger and faster than many others.
This stitch and glue boat building project works by taking the plywood planks that have been cut to the specifications found in your wooden boat plans, and then connect or "stitch" two panels together with copper wire to gradually form the boat. Epoxy "glue" is used to seal the seams. When the glue is dry, the wire is either cut out, or the ends snipped off. Easy to follow directions teach you how to add a finishing layer of protection and strength with an epoxy soaked fiberglass sheath. Finish it off with several coats of varnish or paint.
To fully experience the joy and satisfaction of building a wooden boat from beginning to end, it really is best to buy a quality set of wooden boat plans, and gather all the materials yourself. This is much cheaper than boat building kits, and most importantly, lets you become actively involved in the whole process each and every step of the way. When you proudly launch your finished boat, you will realize that you personally created everything you see or touch. Just think how much fun you will have telling people that all you had to do is stitch and glue to build your boat!

How To Maintain Trolling Motor Parts
If you're luck enough to be in possession of your own boat, be it for leisure or for fishing, then you may be aware of trolling motors. These electric motors are often seen as having a number of advantages over the gasoline version. Usually the greatest positive factor is that such motors create very little noise. Also, as they require no fossil fuels you can be sure that you are not contributing to environmental destruction by adding to the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. To be able to enjoy years of the open water with no problems is going to require an efficient maintenance of the , should your boat be fitted with this type of engine.
As electric motors work differently than the traditional gasoline variety they will require a different level of understanding and care. It makes great sense to spend time learning how they operate and what steps are required for maintenance.
If a motor fails on you when you are miles off of shore then the outcome can be disastrous. The time it takes to learn the basics of the trolling motor and its various parts can mean the difference between being lost at sea and having a happy fishing trip.
To start with you will need to know how trolling motors are powered. Typically a boat engine would require you to fill it up with gas at regular intervals. With an electric motor you require a battery charger. When the power gets low you need to top up the engine with electricity. This can be done when docked, or onboard when at see; it will depend upon you and your requirements. Be sure to follow the charging instructions correctly as otherwise you may damage the motor batteries.
Before heading out on any trip always give the motor parts a once over for damage. It is all too easy for fishing lines and other items such as weeds to get tangled up in the propeller. If you set off without noticing a problem then the cost of any repair can be very expensive.
All trolling motors should come with a maintenance guide that explains the routine checks necessary. This guide should become as well known to you as your favorite novels. Learn the names and terminology for the different components of the engine. This will help you identify a problem should it occur and also find replacement parts in a quicker time. Just because the engine is electric does not mean it will need less care and maintenance.
When charging the batteries it is essential that you monitor the progress regularly. It has been known for battery chargers to be faulty which in turn can lead to too much power being given to the battery. Be aware that a trolling motor's batteries will need replacing every few years.
As long as you take the effort to understand the information contained in your maintenance manual then your trolling motor should provide you with thousands of hours of use without a problem. If there is a need to replace a battery or other part then you can easily find the exact piece through the internet in just a short time. There are various websites that deal in boating spares.

Shark Fishing – What You Should Know
Every sport there is has a category that is set aside for the extreme. Believe it or not, there are some that were not scared by the movie Jaws and they choose to seek out sharks instead of run from them. If you are so bold as to take on shark fishing, you should understand some basics before hitting the open waters.
If it is your main goal to actually catch a shark, the best time to do it is in May if you are in Florida. The temperature is not too hot and it will attract more of the predators you seek. If you decide to fish for sharks in the middle of the summer, you should be aware of water temperatures and try to find the coolest spot possible.
When you plan on going shark fishing, you need to be prepared. Many people would advise keeping a checklist beforehand in order to help you with preparation, some things that you should include when packing for your trip are chum and proper gear. Your rods and reels should be able to handle a two pound hundred fish or greater.
A good fishing rod to use is a fifty to eighty pound class rod. You should not forget your harness and safety straps. In addition, you want to remember your bait and chum, running chum is the most effective way to trap a shark so be prepared for a mess onboard.
You will need to know what species of shark you are fishing for, this will give you an idea of what size hook and bait you will need. Once you have that figured out and have the chum in the water it is time to get the fishing lines in.
As soon as you have waited and finally caught your first shark, you better be prepared. Sharks will have different temperaments and act according to their agitation. Some sharks have been known to slightly drag the bait before they swallow, while other sharks will run at the boat, run in the opposing direction from the boat, or come right up to the boat.
Landing a shark requires help, and your helper should have experience. One option would be to gaff the shark, and be careful when shark is on the boat as they will stay alive for a good amount of time when out of the water. If the shark is too large and you want to keep it you will have to drag it in the water back to base with a wire or rope.
Sharks should only be kept if the intentions are to eat them or hang them on the wall. They have been over fished in the past and used only for their fins, which is now illegal. Help protect the sharks by cutting the line and letting them go, the hook will eventually rot out and will not harm the shark if the line is cut.
Jerry Collinsburg has has had the pleasure of for over 20 years. For more information on how to hook up with sharks you can read his entry on his website.
What Saltwater Fish To Fish For In Florida
Florida has been known to be some of the best saltwater fishing in the world. With the tropical waters and hotspots like the Florida Everglades and the Keys you can not go wrong saltwater fishing in Florida.
The warm waters of Florida will offer you a variety of fish both offshore and inshore. For the offshore fishermen you can expect grouper, marlin, big sharks, dolphin fish, snapper and more. For the inshore fishermen you can expect to catch snook, trout, redfish, sheepshead, bonefish and snapper also.
One of the most looked for saltwater fish that stay inshore are the snook. There are four different species of snook, and they are some of the best eating out of all of saltwater fish. There are closed seasons for snook, and they require a special snook stamp on your saltwater fishing license to keep them.
Dolphin, otherwise known as mahi mahi is an offshore fish that will also put up a great fight. They are very colorful and often the smaller ones will travel in schools. The most efficient way to catch dolphin is by means of trolling, anywhere in south Florida on the gulf side to 10-40 miles offshore. They are excellent to eat and the season is opened year round for them.
One fish that can be found both offshore and inshore are snapper. The bigger snapper are of course found in deep waters offshore, while the smaller snapper family can be found inshore by docks, mangroves, or any kind of rocky obstruction. They are also very good to eat, just make sure they are in season when fishing for them.
If you are flats fishing and want a fish that will give you a fight you can try to go for some bonefish. For their weight they will fight harder than any saltwater fish there are, you will need some experience under your belt to land one of these, as they can strip a 100 yards of line off your reel in the matter of seconds.
If you are into big nasty mean fish, you could give shark fishing a try. The best bait for shark fishing would be a live fish, like a pinfish with the tail cut off, so it bleeds. Sharks can smell blood from miles away, and a bleeding fish in distress is as good as dead in waters where sharks are known to prowl.
Know that you know some of the popular game fish there are in Florida know you can decide what type of fish to go after. I would learn how to fish inshore good before going offshore, offshore fishing requires heavier and more expensive tackle than inshore fishing, and they are harder to find offshore also.
If you must do some offshore fishing, you can round up some money and hire a captain. There are fishing charters up and down every single coast in Florida, do some looking around and ask a lot of questions. Find the captain with the best local reputation and you will catch the most fish.

Seadoo PWC Covers Are Getting More Imaginative
Seadoo PWC covers are a funny topic amongst racers. Every racer I know wants a rad looking cover and goes to great lengths and expense to find these covers but very few will admit that it is a priority for them. When it comes to tournaments and races all of the competitors, including myself, are keen to get those covers off the machine and get the machine on to the water! A few months before the first race of the season, I mentioned to the race organizer that I was contributing to a seadoo pwc cover blog. Before long I got an email saying that an optional cover contest was to be held after the Saturday races and before the awards dinner.
A lot of racers are proud but quiet about their choice of seadoo cover. Most riders prefer to make their statements on the water. That said, I know amongst my closer racer friends that the look of their covers is very important and a source of unspoken pride at tournaments. I know that some of the better racers (with sponsor money) have new seadoo pwc covers for every season.
During the Saturday morning races no one mentioned anything to me about the cover contest. I suppose it seemed a bit flaky to some of the racers. After all, this was an athletic competition not a beauty contest. Not only was it an athletic competition in the ordinary sense but an athletic competition with the addition of expensive powerful machines. These types of events seemed in congruous with beauty contests.
Needless to say, no one pre-registered for the cover contest. However, as dusk rolled around and everyone was chatting with the other competitors and their crew the idea of a cover contest seemed to be a fun idea. Some of the guys were saying that they wouldn't enter the contest but if they did their new custom designed seadoo covers would undoubtedly win. As the evening wore on the claims became more insistent even amongst crew. It was decided that mechanics or even friends or relatives could enter the seadoo covers even if the athletes were not inclined to.
In the end, a guy from Wasaga Beach won the contest. He had a custom detailed cover with embroidered flames on each side. On the nose he had a graffiti style logo that combined the name of his machine with his own last name. The cover itself was a mid-blue with thick black stitching. Admittedly, it was a very nice cover and it was definitely top three in my opinion.
We all agreed that it was a fun addition to the tournament. Some of the competitors were already talking about the covers they might design over the winter months in preparation for next year's beauty contest. I didn't bring my camera to the tournament so don't have any pictures to post. The tournament was a lot of high energy racing with good friends and had the added addition of featuring seadoo pwc covers.

Finding Jet Skis On the Second-hand Market
The latest jet ski models can be expensive so it's a good idea to find other ways to enjoy this water-borne activity without taxing the already dwindling finances. Therefore, the best option is to find cheap jet skis to save money.
Buying a used or second-hand model that is running in a good mechanical and cosmetic condition can help to save a lot of money all round. Used skis can be located at a variety of sources, such as PWC dealers and traders, in classified ads - in a local paper or online, or places such as Craigslist and eBay.
It always nice to locate a suitable PWC in a paper or online, although with such an expensive piece of equipment it is necessary to inspect the vehicle in person prior to making any sort of commitment to purchase. It is vital that a ski is in a full operational condition, with all gear appearing clean and tidy, and no work being required.
Having a mechanical background can help when it comes to looking over a PWC. Take note of the amount of hours ridden - 50 to 75 hours or less can be considered as low, while 150-plus hours is looked on as high.
One of the first defects noted will be cosmetic, such as damage or tears in seat coverings, or scratches, gouges, or damage to the fiberglass body. Some questions to ask include its maintenance history, and were it purchased brand new or second-hand. If possible, take the PWC for a short test ride to determine its overall handling.
On the other hand, it not mechanical minded and would like an independent opinion it might be a wise decision to track down a mechanic or watercraft store and have them inspect it. It might cost a bob or two to have it inspected, but that is going to seem insignificant if left with a dud machine.
For those expecting to use a jet ski on a handful of occasions throughout a given boating season, it might be more cost-effective to look into the rental market. Jet ski rental is a popular activity at all waterside resorts, so the fun of riding a ski is still possible, and comes at a much lower cost.
All in all, a quality PWC, with great features, and powerful performance is often easy to locate in the pre-owned market without to much difficulty, and still comes at a very affordable price.
